    Default Rethinking AIDS Wikipedia Project

Rethinking AIDS has a new page on its site.

Our goal is to crowdsource editorial changes on Wikipedia, aiming for edits that a large enough group of real-name/real people dissidents can actually agree on. Template messages are discussed as a good place to start, beginning with the term "AIDS Denialism", currently used as the title for a supposedly neutral article. I have placed a neutrality tag there -- which may be deleted by the time you read this. If so, please support it.

On that article's Talk page I suggest the term "HIV/AIDS Countercultures" as a re-direct from "AIDS Denialism".

Any comments will be appreciated, either here or on the Talk page.

Henry Bauer has posted several times on the dogmatism and iron-fisted conformity that characterize many of the science entries at Wikipedia:

    The Fairy-Tale Cult of Wikipedia

Wikipedia’s dogmatic defense of a mainstream scientific belief, together with character assassination of those who point to defects in that belief, will be familiar enough to AIDS Rethinkers. It takes only one dedicated fanatic to dominate any given Wikipedia entry or topic, and arbitration on Wikipedia is controlled by sometimes anonymous individuals whose credentials are thereby unknown.

The unqualified (= without qualifications) gurus of Wikipedia

...membership of the Wikimedia Board and the Communications Committee looks rather like what you might find at a dot.com start-up (up-start?). Cult indeed. Infotech specialists re-inventing all the intellectual wheels of the last few millennia, and making all the mistakes that were corrected along the way — and then adding some new pitfalls (pratfalls?) that have come with the Internet age.

Beware the Internet: Amazon.com “reviews”, Wikipedia, and other sources of misinformation

The procedures that purportedly safeguard Wikipedia against malicious entries simply aren’t up to the job of bringing objective and fair consideration, most especially where unorthodox views or anti-mainstream claims are concerned; no reasonable arbitration or compromise is feasible when one side comprises fanatical propagandists for their “truth”, for whom “all’s fair…”, “anything goes”.

Perhaps crowdsourcing can be the new Reformation, clearing the provincialism of our Dark Age of Science.

I do not like the idea to dissappoint you, but perhaps I must tell you that you will resemble someone knocking his head in the wall. The worst case for me would be to see you being justified, in case the editors want to make an effect, after reading posts like the following http://forums.questioningaids.com/showthread.php?t=6970.

I think I get your meaning -- you are saying that all attempts to overcome the orthodox view on Wikipedia will end in failure. You are certainly right so far. For example, just a few minutes ago I re-wrote the introductory paragraph to the AIDS Denialism article. See how quickly it was reverted by Yobol, whom I believe to be a sockpuppet of WLU.

I've started a discussion at the article's Talk page. Comments, especially by real-name dissidents, will be appreciated.
