<TABLE ><TR><TD><FONT size=2><DIV>Hi everyone,</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp; I could use a little bit of help. I have a casual interest in a site named Epinions. It is a service where people write&nbsp;opinions of products and reviews of types of products then Epinions with pay the people who write these guides and opinions per how much they influnanced a buyer s decision to buy something. Well&nbsp;the book "What if everything you thought you know about aids was wrong?" is listed at this place. I wrote a review for&nbsp;it, but&nbsp;I am not a talented writer and&nbsp;this isn t a popular book anyway among some people. So the other&nbsp;users have rated my review as&nbsp;the second to worst rating: Somewhat helpful. Would anyone here who might be a better writter like to write a review&nbsp;on this book there? The more people who do, the more exposed this book will become and the better quality each review of this book is the longer that review will be exposed to the public.</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>The site is:</DIV> <DIV><A target=_top href="http://www.epinions.com/">http://www.epinions.com/</A></DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>Thanks,</DIV> <DIV>Kevin C&nbsp;&nbsp;</DIV></FONT></TD></TR></TABLE>

I m the only one to review the book so far so follow the above link. It shows all reviews written so&nbsp;far.&nbsp; It shouldn t be to hard figure out which one is me. </DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>Keep in mind when you read it that I m not a good writer. I don t really know which points to bring up. So I probably earned the score I got just on that. My area is computers. I have some of the better tech guides on there. Although I will write about anything I am interested there. Even with a bad review it was seen by 14 people. Every new review is posted temporarily on a higher traffic portion of the site.</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>Thanks </DIV> <DIV>Kevin C</DIV></FONT></TD></TR></TABLE>

<TABLE ><TR><TD><FONT size=2>I took the link Kevin C entered in the first post of the Epinions.comdiscussion. I hope that s *this* discussion. On Epinions.com, Ityped "What if Everything" without the quotes in the "Search for:"field. That returned a few results, one of which was Christine sbook. Of those results, it is the only one with a "Rating". Therating is five stars and one review. On that same search results page, I then I took the "1 review" link. This took me to the "Reviews" page for Christine s book, What IfEverything You Thought You Knew Abaout AIDS Was Wrong? (WIEYTYKAAWW?:-). That page displays &lt;bold>contradictory information&lt;/bold>: Below the thumbnail of the book cover, it says "100% Recommended Basedon 1 member review"; under the "Both" view of the Member Reviewstoward the bottom, it says "There are no reviews available."I tried to submit a bug report, but I don t have accurate informationabout when Kevin submitted the review, etc. Plus, when it asked me togo back and fill in information I left out, it wiped out everything Ihad already taken the trouble to type in. So I gave up. Sorry.Maybe while we re waiting for Paul to write a review, Kevin couldsubmit a bug report?http://www.epinions.com/feedback/?show=bugs_missingIncidentally, they also don t give the option in the bug report formpop-ups for the year 2002. In general there are some problems withthe form so I think I will submit a bug report on those separately. Ican t image why they haven t updated this form by now.Jerry Kelly</FONT></TD></TR></TABLE>

<TABLE ><TR><TD><FONT size=2><DIV>I appologize for the infrequent replies. I admittingly don t stop by or read the daily digest very often. To answer some of the questions.&nbsp; When a person writes a review on a product other people can rate your review by how helpful it is. Low rated reviews get low exposure to the general public. In this case a handleful of editors rated by review as "somewhat helpful". Editors can t edit reviews, but they have a very heavy rated opinion and it would take several&nbsp;dozen members of epinions that aren t editors to change the rating of my review for the 5 editors that did rate it.&nbsp; So the only realistic way I could change my review s rating now is to convince those editors to change their opinion of my review. In case your wondering epinions can t delete reviews. They can only rate them.</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>As to why it isn t showing up: Well, I m not sure what is happening. If I log in I can see it. If I log out I can t. Low rated reviews may not be shown to people who are not logged in. I ll have to check the help area to see if there is anything there about it. Otherwise it might be a bug, but I doubt it. It s more likely a way to keep bad reviews from the public since they don t delete any.</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>I hope I m not confusing anyone too much. </DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV> <DIV>Kevin C</DIV> <DIV>&nbsp;</DIV></FONT></TD></TR></TABLE>
