I had to share this. I ran across this lovely little graphic while doing a bit of research. This came from some univeristy website detailing procecures for different diagnostic tests. This was of course from the HIV page. What made me laugh was the description under the cute little picture of HIV (note; illustration, not actual picture). It says,

HIV is the virus that leads to advanced HIV or AIDS

I thought, wow, now we have the regular version of HIV and also the ADVANCED version of HIV! Does the advanced version have more spikes? Does it infect more cells? What? Now I m really confused :-)

Chris

"Advanced HIV" is slang for "Advanced HIV Disease". Either that or, in this case, it may be a typo.

Either way, "HIV disease" is yet another phantom: a hodge-podge mix sometimes composed of non-specific clinical symptoms-such as fever, shingles, weight loss-but more often composed entirely of "virtual symptoms", such as so-called "depleted CD4 T-cell counts" which are, at best, DUBIOUS MARKERS OF HEALTH and " HIV viremia", which is detected solely, of course, by FAULTY SO-CALLED "VIRAL LOAD" TESTS. Of course, ALL of these symptoms of "advanced HIV disease" are always attributed to "HIV", which, as any reader of this forum knows by now, is itself a PHANTOM.

Rod Knoll,
Founder,
AIDS REALITY CHECK

?
